Welcome to the first edition of the 2009 Omgeo’s StraightTalk e-newsletter. Each quarter, we’ll bring you relevant and important news on Omgeo solutions and our growing community, as well as how we can work together with you – our clients and partners - to drive operational stability and increased efficiency.

What can we expect for the rest of 2009? Perhaps a return to basics.
2008 was an incredibly turbulent year that has seen banks and brokers collapse, government bailouts and the nationalization of banks and lenders, massive asset write-downs, layoffs and huge financial losses for nearly all investors. No one will question that it was a year that reshaped the entire global financial services industry.
So what can we expect for 2009? Click here to read Matt Nelson’s blog on where we think the industry is headed during the coming year.

Solution Updates

Omgeo ALERT - New Markets/Validations coming soon
In Q1 ALERT will be updated with expanded coverage of instruments, depositories and market rules and will enforce tighter controls on existing instructions within the system. This will enable clients to communicate a wider range of settlement instructions and streamline processes. It will also increase data integrity and reduce potential failed trades. This release will also leverage the latest market practice rules (ISITC). To learn more, please click here.

Omgeo CTM Settlement Notification (SN) Adds New Functionality
Omgeo is pleased to introduce new Omgeo CTM functionality for non-SWIFT enabled third parties. The new functionality allows you to receive settlement notifications via secure ftp as well as in a CSV format. With the new release, you can also send settlement notifications prior to a trade reaching a “Match Agreed” state in Omgeo CTM, which is critical in short settlement-cycle markets. This project builds on the previous Omgeo CTM Settlement Notification release that enables clients to send a SWIFT message to up to 15 third parties. To find out more, click here.
