Welcome to the first edition of the Omgeo’s 2009 Straight Talk e-newsletter. Each quarter, we’ll bring you important news on Omgeo solutions and our growing community, as well as how we can partner more closely together to help drive operational stability and increased efficiency for our growing list of mutual clients.

What can we expect for 2009? Perhaps a return to basics.

2008 was an incredibly turbulent year that saw banks and brokers collapse, government bailouts and the nationalization of banks and lenders, massive asset write-downs, layoffs and huge financial losses for nearly all investors. No one will question that it was a year that reshaped the entire global financial services industry. So what can we expect for 2009? Click here to read Matt Nelson’s blog on where we think the industry is headed in the coming year.

Solution Updates

Omgeo ALERT - New Markets/Validations
Throughout 2008, we released several product information bulletins on new ALERT functionality being delivered in Q1 2009. These modifications include expanded instrument coverage, depositories and market rules and enforcement for tighter controls on existing instructions. Clients will benefit by being able to communicate a wider range of settlement instructions that will help to streamline processes, increase data integrity and reduce potential failed trades. It is also important for partners to note that current interfaces will require updates on a variety of levels across the product sets, as this is not an optional release. Omgeo Central Trade Manager: Update on Broker/Dealer Availability
Omgeo Central Trade Manager is now available to the broker community. Adopting Omgeo CTM on the sell side allows clients to upgrade from legacy OASYS Global systems to begin to take advantage of the increasing functionality we continue to build into our newest cross-border transaction platform. Omgeo CTM for Brokers supports Equity, Fixed Income and Phase 1 of Exchange Traded Derivatives (ETD) asset classes (January 2009), with future support for the giveup process with ETD Phase 2 and Foreign Exchange arriving later in 2009/early 2010. Counterparties seeking to tap into the demand for post-trade automation associated with these new asset classes will need to adopt Omgeo CTM. TradeSuite: SEC Mandated Fields, Confirm Disclosure Service and Omgeo inSITE
Omgeo’s recent release of TradeSuite 7.1 includes two important enhancements to our post-trade processing service. To maintain compliance, the SEC requires that TradeSuite users implement new 10b-10 discrete fields included on the revised TradeSuite 7.1 confirm by June 30, 2009. In addition, Omgeo recently launched the TradeSuite Confirm Disclosure service, that works in conjunction with a web-based central repository (Omgeo inSITE), to allow users to view disclosures electronically. Use of this service eliminates the need to print, store and manage paper disclosures, resulting in significant cost savings. In order for mutual clients to take advantage of the new discrete fields and the TradeSuite Confirm Disclosure Service, Omgeo Partners will need to make changes to select fields within their TradeSuite interface. Any Omgeo partner who has a TradeSuite interface should click here to learn more or contact Brad Buccini at brad.buccini@omgeo.com.

Omgeo ProtoCollSM- End-to-end, event-driven collateral and margin management workflow solution that automates the complex collateral process
