Custodian Banks and Settlement Instructions

Questions around who should “own” and maintain the data, as well as problems with the data quality and remediation processes, have plagued the industry for decades. Mitigating Operational Risk & Increasing Settlement Efficiency with Same Day Affirmation (SDA)
This Omgeo study highlights a direct correlation between SDA and settlement efficiency. The findings demonstrate that securities trades verified on the day of execution have a much higher chance of settling on time and are less likely to fail. Settlement efficiency was found to be 26% higher for the top countries by SDA rate, than the lowest countries.
